The DP-28 otherwise known as Degtyaryov's Infantry Machine Gun was the main infantry light machine gun of the soviet army. It had a reputation as a relatively effective light support weapon. It was nickanmed the Record Player by Red Army Troops because of its pancake magazine. It was later modernized in 1943 and became known as the DPM. When Poland was occupied by the Soviet Army and a puppet government was instituted in Warsaw, State controlled Polish arms factories were coerced into manufacturing Soviet weapons. The Polish DPM was manufactured by Radom, Circle 11, and became instituted into the Post War Communist Polish Army. Despite being close to 100 years old, DPMs are still being used today with them being spotted on both sides of the Russo-Ukranian War.
